Brian Burke

Brian has been a partner of Harmans since 2002. He joined Harmans in 1998 fresh from a role as associate at a Wellington law firm and is a member of our dispute resolution team, together with Graeme Riach.
A specialist in civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution, Brian has extensive experience in estate litigation, trust disputes, land, lease and construction disputes, banking and insurance law, and resource management law.
Brian regularly appears as counsel in Court and in private mediations and arbitrations. He has been invited to speak on numerous occasions to both the medical and legal professions on legal issues that affect seniors. In 2009, he chaired a New Zealand Law Society seminar on Elder Law issues.
Brian has presented papers at both New Zealand Law Society and Lexis Nexis Professional development seminars on estate litigation. He is a member of the New Zealand Resource Management Law Association.
Brian's approach is to focus on the client's goals and to devise a strategy in cooperation with the client in order to achieve those outcomes.
When time allows, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, fishing, boating, tramping and generally enjoying New Zealand's great outdoors.
