Estate Administration

Your final wishes are our command.

No matter what your net worth may be, it's important to have a plan in place to ensure that your family and financial goals are met after you die.  An estate plan may include a will, a power of attorney, and a living will.

A will allows you to be specific about where you want your assets distributed when you die.  Dying without a will, or dying "in testate", can be costly to your heirs and leaves you no say over where your assets go.  Talking to the Harmans Estate Administration Team means you can be confident that your wishes are fully documented and taken care of as you want.

Our Estate Administration Team administers a full range of services, including:

  • Making application to the High Court of New Zealand for a formal grant of Probate or Letters of Administration where appropriate
  • Ensuring that Trustees are fully aware of their legal obligations
  • Adivising executors in relation to potential claims that can be made against estates
  • Asset distribution to beneficiaries in accordance with the wishes of the deceased as identified in their will, including the disposal of any assets that need to be realised
  • Paying any outstanding expenses for the estate, such as costs relating to the funeral
  • Administering any life tenancies or trusts that may have been created by the deceased's will
