Graeme Riach
Partner LLB
Graeme became a partner of Harmans in 1999 and is currently the Managing Partner of the firm. He has practised in litigation since 1988 and heads the dispute resolution team specialising in civil and commercial litigation and with a significant practice and reputation in employment law.
Graeme advises receivers and liquidators in the course of discharging their responsibilities, and provides litigation support for major finance companies. He has appeared as counsel in most jurisdictions from the District Court to the Court of Appeal. He is a qualified mediator and as counsel, he has conducted many arbitrations. He has expertise in construction disputes with particular emphasis on "leaky building" cases.
Graeme has represented a major insurer and has expertise in general, business interruption and professional indemnity insurance matters.
Graeme is a member of the Council of the Canterbury-Westland branch of the New Zealand Law Society.
With a strong commitment to providing clients with sound, practical advice, Graeme focuses on resolving problems and disputes to the client's best advantage. His experience in court provides the firm's clients with a valuable ally when they enter that arena.
Graeme is a keen boatie, is a Board member of Coastguard Southern Region and enjoys camping with his family. He is currently training for his private pilot's licence.
