Resource Management & Environmental Law

The Resource Management Act 1991 has been in place for many years.

Its principles are for the most part now well settled.  That said, Resource Management and Environmental Law remains a complex area requiring specialist advice.

Areas affected by the Resource Management Act include:

  • Land use and subdivision consents
  • Discharge and water permits
  • Plan changes
  • Prosecutions for breaches of the Act

If proper advice is sought and taken at the earliest opportunity our clients will ultimately save considerable time and money and are more likley to achieve a favourable outcome.

Failure to carry out existing activities without reference to the principles of the Act can in certain circumstances lead to significant penalties.

Our resource management team can help deal with these issues.  We offer comprehensive advice and service to help our clients navigate through the minefield of regulatory requirements.  We have significant experience in representing our clients before the Environment Court and local authorities.  We act for clients who require resource consents, and for those who wish to oppose them.  We also act for clients who face prosecution for breaching the Act.

Our team employs a practical approach in order to assist clients through the process and pave the way for a quick and effective outcome.
