Brian is a partner at Harmans and jointly leads our litigation and disputes resolution team. With over 25 years’ experience in the field of civil litigation and dispute resolution he is able to provide clients with excellent advice and representation.
Brian’s approach is to focus on the client’s goals and to devise a strategy in consultation with the client in order to achieve those outcomes.
Brian has extensive experience in Estate Litigation, Trust Disputes, Land, Lease and Construction Disputes, Banking and Insurance Law, and Resource Management Law.
Brian appears in many jurisdictions including the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court, Family Court, Environment Court, the Liquor Licensing Authority and the Weathertight Homes Tribunal.
Brian has a particular specialty in Trust and Estate Litigation. Brian has presented papers at both New Zealand Law Society seminars and Lexis Nexis Professional Development Seminars on Estate Litigation.
Brian has been on the committee of the Papanui Village Business Association Inc. and a trustee of the Endeavour Inlet Conservation Trust for a number of years and is actively involved in community and conservation projects. Brian is also on the Christchurch Elder Law Special Interest Group Committee.
When time allows, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, boating, tramping and generally enjoying New Zealand’s great outdoors.
