Colin is a member of our family law team and now has over 11 years’ experience in the area of family law. He has particular expertise in the protection of assets prior to and during a relationship and the division of assets upon separation including personally owned assets, companies and trusts together with all care of children disputes and domestic violence matters.
Colin was a recipient of a 2006 Harmans’ summer clerk scholarship and completed his double degree in Law with Honours and a BA, majoring in Political Science at Canterbury University at the end of 2006, he joined Harmans the following year.
In March 2015 Colin was appointed Convenor of the Family Law Committee of the Canterbury-Westland Branch of the NZ Law Society, having served on that committee since 2011. Colin was also elected as Chairperson of the Christchurch Family Courts Association in 2015 and 2016.
In March 2018 Colin was appointed as one of three family lawyers on the Ministry of Justice’s Christchurch Family Justice Sector Network Group, a new group comprising Ministry of Justice staff, a Family Court Judge, a District Health Board representative, Police, Legal Aid and Oranga Tamariki . The group was formed with a view to achieving a more consistent approach nationally towards the resolution of family justice issues.
Colin is a keen sportsman, having captained and played for many representative hockey teams. He plays golf, squash, tennis and is a keen tramper. Colin also enjoys music, movies and spending time with family and friends.
