Harriet graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2010 and was admitted to the bar in the same year. After 3 years working in our busy family law team, Harriet moved to the UK and worked for 2 years in Health Regulation Law and on a high profile Banking Litigation case. Returning to NZ in 2015, Harriet practiced as a family lawyer in Lower Hutt, before re-joining the family law team at Harmans in January 2017.
Harriet specialises in family law and provides legal advice in relation to all family law matters including care of children and guardian disputes, domestic violence, division of relationship property, adoption, paternity disputes and protection of assets upon entering into a relationship. Harriet is also a lead legal aid provider, and can assist on a legal aid basis with all these issues, along with providing the Family Legal Advice Service regarding non urgent care of children matters.
Harriet is a committee member for the Canterbury Women’s Legal Association and the Family Law Section, volunteers at Community Law and has recently completed a certificate in Te Reo Maori.
In her spare time, Harriet enjoys travelling, walking, art and sampling all the new restaurants popping up in Christchurch.
