Mimi provides legal advice in relation to all family law matters, including division of relationship property, protection of assets upon entering into a relationship, parenting and guardianship disputes, family violence, adoption and paternity. Mimi is also a Legal Aid provider and can assist on a Legal Aid basis with all these issues.
Mimi graduated from the University of Otago in 2015 with a double degree in Law and Science, majoring in Psychology. She joined the busy Family Law team in February 2016 and was admitted to the bar in October 2016.
After two and a half years working at Harmans, Mimi moved to the UK and worked as an Immigration Litigation lawyer in London, advising the Secretary of State for the Home Department on Judicial Reviews and Statutory Appeals. Mimi specialised in Asylum Support law and was a Lead Lawyer for the UK’s Government Legal Department. In 2020 she was one of three Government Legal Department lawyers involved in advising the UK’s Home Office on policy development regarding COVID-19, asylum support and asylum seekers’ human rights. Whilst in the UK, Mimi also volunteered for Lawyers Against Poverty, a charity aiming to use access to justice to relieve poverty. Mimi re-joined our specialist Family Law team in January 2021.
Mimi is an active sportsperson, having played netball, waterpolo and touch/tag rugby for many years. She is an avid supporter of rugby, cricket and tennis and is a keen boatie. Mimi also loves travelling, music and theatre, skiing and any outdoor activity. She is also a qualified nail technician and artist, a qualification she obtained whilst living and working in the UK and is currently learning New Zealand Sign Language.
