Seaton became a partner at Harmans in 1976 and is the current Chair of Partners for the firm. After an initial grounding in litigation he concentrated on establishing a commercial and conveyancing client base.
His areas of practice include business and commercial transactions, commercial and residential property, leasing, subdivisions, trusts and estate planning.
Seaton's special interest and expertise is advising clients in the hospitality industry. He has come to act for the owners and operators of hotels, motels, motor inns, restaurants and other tourist-related industries. In addition, a number of his clients are involved in the provision of aged care and retirement village services. He serves clients in Christchurch and around the country.
Seaton has presented seminars in conjunction with other professionals working in the hospitality industry. He is a member of Hospitality New Zealand and has been a member of the National Board since October 2017.
Seaton keeps fit by cycling and exercising at the gym. His other spare time interests include shooting, and maintaining the small rural property that he owns at Irwell, near Christchurch.
